Chocolate Syrup

Kind of late getting today’s post up, but its well worth it.
I am a firm believer that there is not a rule against enjoying a tall glass of chocolate milk as an adult. I’m quite fond of this treat. But I would like to avoid getting packaged chocolate syrup, both because of additional ingredients and added cost.
I happened across this simple recipe at One Good Thing by Jillie on Pinterest (and originally posted over at Glorious Treats) this past week and finally got around to prepping a batch.
Chocolate Syrup
1 1/2 cups sugar
3/4 cups unsweetened cocoa powder
1 cup water
dash of salt
1 tsp. vanilla
Combine sugar, cocoa and salt in a saucepan and whisk gently. Add water and whisk together. Heat, stirring occasionally, until mixture comes to a boil. Reduce heat and cook for 1 minute. Remove from heat and add vanilla. Cool and store in fridge.
Wow. Simple to make. Should have been doing this all along. Made a glass of chocolate almond milk to test it out and it was awesome!
